Villages at Cabrillo is 81 affordable housing units for formerly homeless families. The project aims to provide families with a higher sense of independence and self-sufficiency within a service enriched setting. The project specifically targets homeless families with a mentally disabled family member. The project’s design features include unit entries directly to the exterior. Units with entries on an
upper level have outdoor spaces shaded by steel trellises. Exterior materials such as cementitious siding, window trim detailing and stucco were chosen for their residential character and to harmonize with existing buildings. The project also provides families with educational and transitioning services which will help them bridge to a more stable setting.
